Transport

Transport is a very important function within the SAITL environment!  We need to ensure samples from all around New Zealand can get to us within 24 hours to ensure maximum testing potential.

As such we have an excellent transport infrastructure using some dedicated companies who work with us to provide a service which is comparable to none!

Transport within the North Island is supplied by Refrigerated Couriers Ltd and Refrigeration Couriers.  Our relationship with these companies has been long standing and is integral to our being able to provide results that are timely, meaningful and accurate!  Trucks are refrigerated to ensure sample stability and their staff work some very early hours to pick samples up from around the North Island and deliver them to SAITL for testing.  Samples from the North Island are usually here either first thing in the morning when staff start work (i.e. 7am), or by around 10.30am for some of the further towns/companies.

South Island samples are picked up from transport depots throughout the South Island and then transported by chillybin to airports by Pace Couriers.  Samples are then air freighted by Air New Zealand to Hamilton and again picked up by Pace for delivery to SAITL.  South Island samples are usually in Hamilton (except on the odd occasion ) by 11.30am and are then processed and tested upon receipt.  At peak times this can include over 30 chillybins arriving at our Sample Reception at the same time!

Freighting of our calibration samples (including overnight to the South Island) , return chillybins and other courier needs is supplied by PBT Couriers who were able to meet our particular requirements without any hassle and have provided us with excellent servce to date.

In summary - we have an intricate and extensive transport infrastructure in place to enable us to get samples from anywhere in New Zealand.  We thank our transport companies in particular for their dedication and hard work at suppliyng their services and ensuring the samples get here on time and in good condition!
